Eating and Drinking in Melbourne
(Melbourne, Victoria - VIC, Australia)

Restaurants in Melbourne

Melbourne is considered by many to have the best restaurants in Australia. With its rich ethnic mix, Melbourne offers first-class cuisine from around the world including Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, Lebanese and hearty Australian food. Most restaurants are reasonably priced and many have outdoor seating.

The centre of Melbourne is home to many fine restaurants, although good ones can also be found in the suburbs. Melbourne's colourful Chinatown is the place to go for authentic and delicious Chinese food, while the areas around Flinders Lane, Collins street and Bourke street are popular destinations for eating and drinking, with excellent cafés, bars and restaurants. Many good pubs can be found throughout Melbourne.

The recently revamped southbank of the Yarra river now boasts two areas with pomenades lined with atmospheric alfresco restaurants and bars, where you can enjoy long summer nigts after work.

St Kilda is perhaps the liveliest suburban part of Mebourne and is now busy any night of the week with its high concentration of bars and restaurants along the main street. Look out for the more upmarket and quieter places tucked away in the suburbs nearby.
